Although there were some ups and downs, we truly had a wonderful holiday season. Ruth was here from Washington DC which we always love, and Heidi and all the Sego family came too! Alene and Ruth got to go out to eat (thanks Kelv for watching the boy!), which was such needed and wonderful sister time. Needless say it was just a party at grandmas and we loved it.
Some of the major downsides had to do with health issues. Allie was the first one sick with a very bad cold/flu, cough, and fever. It was hard to make sure the boys stayed away. Then Grandma came down with a horrible flu as well, racked with fever, chills, and aches so bad she couldn't even get out of bed the entire Christmas Eve day. Kelv started to feel really sick with a cough and cold as well. By Christmas Day he was able to enjoy the morning events but ended up napping for 6 hours later and just not feeling himself at all. Even now, 2 weeks later he still does not quite have all his energy back, and coughs now and then.

We also took the boys down to the Riverwoods shopping area where they got to meet Santa, go on a Sleigh Ride, see beautiful lights, and see my dear friend Angie and her husband Brad, and toddler Abby. It was awesome to randomly see them there and it looks like Brad is actually hoping to get a job at Ancestry which would be fantastic on so many levels. One of the best parts was Camden led he singing of "Jingle Bells," 2 times while on the carriage filled with probably 15 people. He just couldn't help it! There were Jingle Bells on the carriage and it needed to be sung, so he started singing and clapping, and turned to everyone and said, "Everybody Sing!" and they did! Both times. It was pure holiday magic and awesomeness and we love our little 5 year old Camden's passion for life.

Sadly, Kelv's health, and family members being sick in Boise, as well as some weather concerns led us not to drive to Boise for our usually awesome New Years celebrations which is really sad. It was a really really hard decision but in the end, it was a really good thing for us to stay home and rest up emotionally and physically. We also got a few good projects done like reorganizing the baby's room, and our room, and my Etsy stuff in prep for the baby. Kelv still worked those days but he mostly worked from home which was really nice. He was able to nap when he needed, and not worry about spreading his sickness to those at work. And MIRACULOUSLY, Camden, Xan, and I are all still healthy! Knock on wood right!?We also got to have some fun as a family with Kelv building an awesome sledding hill in our front yard for the boys. We also went swimming, Dinner and games with my good friend Christy and her family, out to eat a few times, to IKEA, to the dinosaur museum, and bowling to try and make the holiday break special and fun... which is was!
One other reason we didn't go to Boise was my emotional health. We found out the day before we were supposed to drive to Boise, that I had not passed my pregnancy glucose screening. That my sugar levels were a little too high. I knew this was a possibility since it's not uncommon for women with PCOS to have blood sugar issues as well, and I actually handled the news really well, until about midnight. Maybe I was too emotionally drained already but I just started to panic and had one of the biggest cries I've had in a long time. I still wasn't feeling great knowing they would have to do further testing to see if I have Gestational Diabetes, and I just emotionally was not doing well with the thought of having to diet and manage another burden/trial during this pregnancy.
Well, since we didn't go to Boise, the morning of New Years Eve, I went into the doctors for about 3.75 hours where they drew my blood 4 times. First with my fasting, then they gave me that "oh so delicious" sugar drink. Then they checked my blood every hour for the next 3 hours. My initial fasting blood sugar was in good levels, but they won't be able to tell me more results until Monday. I'm trying not to let it get to me as I wait for answers, but it still does worry me. I really hope I don't have Gestational Diabetes, but if I do, I just hope I can manage the diet restrictions well, so that the baby is not affected.
Here's to hoping for good news Monday!!
Tony LOVES Kelv's muscle massages!
It works in water too!
